Regatta Information
New bow numbers
We are using unique bow numbers in order to speed registration, reduce time on the dock, identify finishers and facilitate starting. Your bow number will have a background color which is the same as the other boats in your race. This should be helpful when preparing to start. The second digit of the bow number is your lane number. The first letter combined with the background color identifies your race.
1. There will be a regatta meeting before the first heat. The time will be posted along with the heat sheet.
2. Launch time is 30 minutes before your race time. There will be a dock queue where you will wait for a space on the dock. You must be at the dock queue at least 10 minutes before launch time (40 minutes before race time).
3. You will have 2 minutes, at most, on the dock. Have helpers keep your oars with your boat in the queue. If you can’t do that, have your oars on the dock before your boat arrives.
4. Bring a box or bag for shoes unless you plan to keep them in the boat during the race.
5. Do not make any adjustments or tie in on the dock. Do not start looking for tools on the dock.
6. Launching and landing will both take place heading north. This is towards the start line and away from the big red bridge. After launching, look for boats racing on the course, then cross the course to row to the start line. Understand the large course maps which will be posted at the regatta. If you need help, ask before your boat is on the dock.
7. All boats should enter the ramp to the dock STERN first so that you will be able to launch heading in the proper direction. Although highly undesirable, singles and doubles can be spun on the dock. Fours and eights can’t be.
8. Four and eight person boats will use the outside of the dock. Other boats will use the inside.
9. Know the length of your race so that you arrive at the correct start line. The race length is printed on the race schedule.
10. Do not linger on the dock after landing. Resist the impulse to celebrate (or commiserate) until after your boat is off the dock.
11. Please bring slings for a more comfortable experience in the dock queue.
12. It will be difficult and probably impossible to accommodate equipment or athlete reuse within 30 minutes. If you have a situation where a boat or athlete is in a race within 30 minutes of another race, you must notify the regatta director ([email protected]) before the regatta. This notification will be a big factor in whether it is difficult or impossible.
13. The dock masters and dock queue masters can award false starts. Two false starts is a disqualification.
We will have copies of the race schedule and this information at the regatta, but prudent competitors will want to print out their own copies and bring them with them.
